Collages and assemblages on suggestive themes.
Augury: assemblage with eggshell and toy snakes on inverted stretched canvas, 14 x 11 inches, 2017. Playing with the genteel games of divination and witchcraft popular in the 18th and 19th centuries.
House of Hours: collage on canvas, 20 x 20 inches, 2004 and 2017. I revisited this piece for an exhibition on the theme of time. Over the years, it evolved with changes in my techniques and media. It’s about awareness of time and the future.
Judgment: Mixed media assemblage with wax, found objects and text, 16 x 20 inches, 2014. Referencing news article about melting glaciers, Smithsonian Magazine. It tells of the reemergence of relics of WW1 as climate change destroys the glaciers of the Italian Alps. The wax forms representing melting ice were made by melting ice under the molten wax. They are the bones of vanished ice.
Midsummer: collage on paper, 8.75 x 6 inches, 2006. Imagining superstitions about the moon in summer.
